Charity Shop Delights

By paintinglady

I try to avoid acquiring more “art materials” like this, one learns how much weird stuff you have when you move home two times in six months.

But, I just couldn’t resist buying these four piano rolls at just a £1 each from Oxfam.  They are just so full of art possibilities – collage, assemblage, altering… I mean, just look at this example:

And the boxes they came in are quite lovely themselves.

The punched paper that makes the music itself, is not the thick card you sometimes see, but rather thin paper, so won’t stand up to too much bashing.

Still, I am going to have fun with these..

Other than buying stuff, I haven’t managed to complete much art, been a tad busy, but have managed to sell another beeswax collage, been approached about two publishing ventures and been asked to take part in an urban art project alongside the open studios in October, so things are jogging along nicely.

How fantastic… I agree with Deepa what a great find! The fact that the paper may well fall apart whilst you work with it will open up more possibilities I am sure. Looking forward to seeing what you do :) .
